What is Cassette LT-1?
Cassette LT-1 is an analog cassette simulator designed to add unstable, imperfect tape character to any sound.
It brings subtle warmth, drifting pitch, softened high frequencies, and worn texture, all controlled with a small set of focused parameters.
No setup is required. Just load it and dial in character within seconds.
Tape Character
Cassette LT-1 is built around four tape conditions, each representing a different stage of cassette wear.
Modern - delivers a clean and controlled tape tone.
Worn - introduces gentle movement and soft degradation.
Aged - pushes instability and high frequency loss further.
Damaged - creates extreme pitch drift, dropouts, and broken tape behavior.
The selected condition shapes the entire sound, including modulation and space.
Texture and Space
Cassette LT-1 includes a built in shimmer reverb placed before the tape stage.
Because the reverb passes through the tape stage, its tone and stability change with the selected tape condition, ranging from clean ambient tails to unstable, degraded space.
This makes it especially effective for pads, depth, and evolving textures.
Cassette LT-1 was modeled from real cassette tape, carefully analyzed in the quietformat studio to capture the tape’s signature texture and movement.

Condition-Scaled Controls: The control range is automatically scaled to the selected Tape Condition.
→ The same slider percentage can feel different depending on the Condition.
Instability: Adjusts the tape’s instability/warble character (Stable ↔ Unstable)
Flutter Depth: Controls the depth/intensity of flutter (subtle pitch modulation)
Flutter Rate: Controls the speed of flutter (Slow ↔ Fast)
