quietformat is an audio plugin brand founded in 2025 by producer GILLA.

 

We create virtual instruments and audio effects

for people who want to shape new sounds.

 

While making music, I often found faint thoughts drifting in.

“I wish there was a synth with this kind of texture.”

“I wish there was a tone that felt like this.”

It was not a lack of features.

It was a moment when new ideas for texture, movement, and feeling were needed.

 

I believe that sound design is more than adjusting parameters on a synthesizer.

Creating sound always begins with an idea,

and I needed something that would draw those ideas out.

 

To hold on to those thoughts,

I decided to turn them into instruments.

 

In 2020, I built my first software synth with SynthEdit

and experienced the joy of bringing a synthesizer I had imagined to life.

Later, I created Kontakt libraries,

shaping the techniques I often used in my own work

into an instrument called GILLA ARP.

What began as small experiments gradually formed a clear direction over time,

and that path eventually became quietformat.
